Re: Bullied 10-year-old commits suicide

Absolutely horrible. This makes me so sad and your last sentence reminds me of something I wrote in 2008 after an eleven year old living near me was murdered by her twenty seven year old step brother. Her name was Erin Maxwell and I think she's all but forgotten except by me and a few people close to her.

After her murder we learned that she had been living in squalor for years. One newspaper article said:

'At least three people made complaints to the Oswego Department of Social Services on behalf of Erin in 2003, 2004 and 2006. One was Jackie Siver, whose daughter befriended Erin. She said the conditions in the home were awful two years ago. She said the girls odor was so bad that students used to throw soap at her and teachers would sometimes wash her clothes. Her daughter said Erin rummaged through cafeteria garbage looking for food.'

I have three pictures of her I saved from online articles just after the crime. To this day when I look at them I feel like crying.

I made a blog post about it at the time and the last thing I wrote was 'The GVGL doesnt really know what to make of this case. But one thing hes rather certain of is that Erin didnt have any real girl lovers in her life.'
