A 6 year old can be criminally charged?

Can this really happen in the United States? In Canada, no one under 12 can be criminally charged under the same reasoning that no one under 16 knows what sex is. Does the United States really have nothing like this? It actually makes sense (unlike the AOS laws) because it prevents idiotic charges like this.
