Liberal forms of capitalism are NOT "forms" of socialism--they are forms of capitalism.
Marxism is indeed a good alternative to free-market capitalism, because it would allow every worker access to the abundance that modern technology and production methods make possible, thereby eliminating poverty and establishing freedom from want, which would go a long way towards ending the reasons for war, the reasons behind most forms of criminal behavior, the reasons behind racist/sexist/ageist bigotry, and the reasons for environmental degradation.
All the other suggestions you made were for liberal forms of capitalism similar to what is done in most European nations, and they would indeed make the capitalist system easier to live with if adopted in the U.S., but they would not end those problems once and for all like a conversion from a money-based economy predicated on private and/or state ownership of the industries and services vis a vis production for profit, to a full resource-based economy predicated on social ownership of the industries and services vis a vis production for direct use.
Btw, what's up with you vanishing for so long and then only re-appearing to debate economic issues? In the immortal words of Ricky Ricardo, "I think you got some 'splainin' to do, Lucy!"
