Ah! and in typical American fashion, we took something brutal and made it exquisitely cruel.

This reminds me - about 4 years ago a case of a rape victim being jailed for her rape in Saudi Arabia was in the news, and the Saudi people were quite vocal about their opposition to this injustice. The American people, however, didn't even notice when their system did the same.
