They mention the assumption that girls can more readily identify with male or female leads whereas boys can't. Where did this come from? Maybe because there weren't a lot of female leads or when they were in books or TV or movies they're hardly interesting? Boys should be able to identify with girls in fiction, as they should be able to do in life. I hate gender segregation. And screw market share. People don't dictate their entertainment; the like five companies that control all of media do.
