Several studies have found that over 90% of men have some attraction to prepubescent girls. (Should I presume the other 10% prefer boys?)

Research also suggests that between 20% and 30% of men are at least as attracted to girls as to women. So yes, it is very common.

Yes, I have had at least one heated argument with a man when I said that I thought that the panic over young girls was ridiculously out-of-kilter. On the other hand, he afterwards became quite friendly with me. On another occasion I saw a young woman (who I thought was older) and mentioned her attractiveness, and the guys around me started with the "oh my god she must be fourteen stuff", but only a moment later admitted that she was pretty hot.

So, like yourself I think many men are relieved to discover that they are not the only ones who enjoy young girls - but they have certainly been socialized to be show anger and disbelief at the idea of it.
