I believe that the "innocence myth" creates all sorts of problems for those who buy into it. If they can't blame the clash between reality and the notion of asexuality on accepting a lie; then they have to believe that some external force "sexualized," the child, or that the child herself is "wrong."

And the stunted notion of consent which is all-or-nothing ( depending on a magical natal anniversary ) leads folks to believe that human sexuality fits into a false dichotomy of asexual-forbidden/sexual-anything goes. The Madonna/Whore concept makes the "bad girl" fair game.

This practically invites situational child molestation by those who've never been educated to think through the realities of childhood sexuality or to think about consent in terms which aren't black-and-white.

I have no idea what happened here. But his wife's ideas about the girls' sexuality is erroneous and irrelevant.
