And of course, every adult is going to look down at even teenagers saying they are ready for sexual activity by saying, "Well, that may be true, but I prefer to err on the side of caution..." Mmm-hmmm.

At least it's unrealistic.

A girl or boy who is seeking out sexual activity and thinks themselves ready will not take a no for a final answer. They will just seek another partner until they find someone who will say yes to their advances or offers. And the more they have to look for one, the more likely that the partner they finally have will be someone more irresponsible and disrespectful than the ones they initially thought about.

At the same time society grossly underestimates minors' capacities, it also grossly overestimates their abidance to being said no.
