She's eleven and has been going steady with boys for about a year now. She was sad the other day and sent me a text message (along with a pic of her smiling) that read thusly:

"He dumped the most beautiful soon to be cheerleader in the universe"

And yes, she spelled all the words correctly. She amazes me sometimes with how smart she is, and yet she has the emotional level of a child a few years younger, although she is starting to mature there too, finally. But she struggles with her temper, which is understandable because her family is all like that and she doesn't get the attention she needs at home. She also lacks discipline. I struggle with that one too when I deal with her--I try to lavish attention on her, but I can't always give into her whims either. I love the girl enough to want to prepare her for life, and part of that is being able to interact with people without acting like a spoiled brat, which will inevitably cost her dearly.
