The problem is not money in politics, but the fact that the members of Congress no longer represent the people. The money in politics is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.

The problem is not just the lack of representation, but the power that Congress has accrued to itself. If the U.S. government restricted itself to the powers allowed it by law, there would be little cause to seek personal gain through government. This is the dark side of using government to solve every ill that those on the left refuse to see: in the words of Gerald Ford, "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have."

The problem is also the concentration of power: if the early ratio of voters to representatives had been maintained, we would have something like 10,000 representatives in Congress instead of 435, and the representatives would actually have to meet with their constituents and hear their concerns.

The biggest problem with the Occupy movement is that they wish to put a band-aid on a cancerous tumor.
