As for my personal opinion, I believe that in the absence of laws prohibiting it and other factors (such as the presence of infectious disease) that might cause harm to a child, any loving and consensual behavior is appropriate.

Of course, in our current situation a child lover should take societally-induced guilt into consideration, as well as the willingness of some children to endure things they don't like out of a desire to please an adult they love. In the latter case, it is advisable to allow the child to lead in activities which the adult is unsure the child likes, and to pay attention to a child's tastes and how they change over time.
