Already other shrinks are questioning the "insanity" declaration; while fully acknowledging that you can't play armchair shrink.

Legal insanity in Norway requires a psychotic break from reality. Others have pointed out that in the grip of psychosis most folks can't even drive a car; let alone carry out a carefully orchestrated plan which involved driving, as well as calmly coaxing victims out of hiding.

Just because his world-view involved conspiratorial thinking, doesn't mean that he'd snapped and was responding to things that weren't there, or had delusional beliefs about what he was doing or who he was doing it to ( as, say, opposed to beliefs about the effect the massacre would have on promoting his ideology. )
