The vast majority claim that they would have fought the status quo when it embraced racism, sexism &tc. But their behavior towards the acceptable minorities to currently hate shows otherwise.

And while its dismaying to see exceptionalism at work, its very common for folks to fail to get the underlying principles of Human Rights as it applies to those they're not already favorable towards.

"Sure I'm for Civil Rights for colored men, but Women serve another role in society and aren't the same." "Sure I'm for Women's Rights, but being Homosexual is another thing since they don't have to act that way." "Sure......"
