Ellen upset

Ellen had Shailene Woodley (The Descendants and "Secret Life of the American Teenager") on her show today. During the interview Shailene said that on a red carpet appearance she had turned and saw Greyson Chance standing behind her. Shailene is apparently quite taken by Greyson' talent, and she got a bit flustered when she saw him. Ellen (this is so sad) actually seemed to get upset and began to complain that Shailene (who is 20) is "too old for him". Greyson is about fourteen. Ellen went on to say, half jokingly and half serious it seemed, that Shailene could wait until she is forty and Greyson is in his thirties. It was such a disturbing and sad exchange coming from Ellen.

Why wait? Greyson is smart, talented, earning some good money I suspect, and very good looking. So what is the big deal about him and a twenty-year-old girl possibly getting together? Why did Ellen seems so upset?

Fifty years ago there would have been a great outcry about Ellen and her lover, or any gay couple. Just today a church in Kentucky banned an interracial couple from services. Too many people worry too much about what others are doing in their private lives.

Sometimes this world just makes me want to scream.
