Her name's Saiorse Ronan (pronounced sair-shay). She was also in the Lovely Bones, which came out a year after the City of Ember.

We read the book in elementary school. I'm not sure when the book was published, but I think it was just a year or two before we read it. I don't really remember anything about it, except there was a sequel (the City of Sparks) which I meant to read but never got around to. When the movie came out, I saw a couple posters for it, but it wasn't advertised very much, I guess it's pretty low budget. I meant to see it, but then never did until I came across it a few months ago on Netflix.

As for the quality of the movie, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment, "I wouldn't call it a great movie, but it didn't suck, and she was pretty good in it."
