Buffy the Vampire Slayer was an awesome series, as it brought "girl power" to the nth level, had some very positive girl characters working harmoniously with positive male characters, and it did the intergenerational relationship thing between a great teen girl character and a cool ancient male vampire who looked like a physically young man a decade before Stephanie Meyers brought us the Twilight saga. The romance between Buffy and Angel was many times more memorable and awesome than that shared between Bella Swan and Edward Cullens, and the tragic reason they were forced to break up after 2 seasons of heated romance had nothing to do with the "age difference." The creative crew of the series, led by Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt, were well aware that Angel was 240 years old when he fell in love with Buffy, and she was 15 when he first laid eyes on her--and it was love at first sight for him, and later for her when she first saw him. The dialogue in the show from the teen characters was so accurately written that it's no wonder the series caught on like it did.
One of Buffy's all-time AG-friendly lines of dialogue:
When she was first revealed to be the Slayer to Maggie Walsh, the leader of the Initiative in Sunnydale early in Season 4, Dr. Walsh told her, "We thought you were a myth." To which Buffy replied, "Then you were myth-aken." That was sooooo cute and witty, and exactly what an AG would have said! I laughed uncontrollably and smiled for a long time after hearing that one! :-D
As for Buffy's little sister Dawn, she was a truly cool and awesome AG character! She did and said so many cute things that real AGs would do and say it was a joy to watch her in the show, especially seeing her character grow and gradually become a courageous warrior just like her older sis. I was so envious of Xander when Dawn displayed a crush on him early on in her tenure on the show, as well as that vampire who looked like a teen boy that gave Dawn her first make-out session.
As for my fave Dawn of all time, she had a very AG-friendly singing-out-of-the-blue moment sometime early in Season 7 where she came home from school to find that Buffy was out, and her big sis left her a post it note saying she had pizza for her to eat for dinner (AGs are fond of post it notes for some reason, and they refer to them as "stickies"). So after taking a bite of a slice of pizza, Dawn suddenly and out of the blue began singing the following lines to her pizza: "Anchovies, anchovies, you're so delicious! I love you more than any kind of fishes!"
I burst out laughing and was in a hyper mood for the rest of the day! Could it possibly get any cuter than that? :-D I so love the way AGs find hyperness and joy out of the many simple things in life that we enjoy, and they have such cute ways of expressing this :-)
