Sarah currently has a new well-received series called Ringer. Whedon has had a couple of memorable things to do since the cancellations of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, including the short-lived but fan fave Firefly and its follow up film Serenity, and I'm really looking forward to The Avengers, since the slew of Marvel movies leading up to it have been excellent. Whedon can write such characters really well, as his comic book work attests.

As for Blade, he is one of my all-time fave Marvel characters, and his film trilogy is what kicked off the modern slate of successful film franchises based on Marvel characters. He is certainly one of Marvel's best black heroes, and I hope he paves the way for films based on other cool Marvel black characters, all of whom the fans have been clamoring for, like the Black Panther, Luke Cage, the Falcon, and War Machine (who already got his debut in the Iron Man movies). And I'm hoping that DC will bring us a big screen rendition of Static, one of the best black and teen super-heroes ever created; in the meantime, I will enjoy his revived comic book and my DVD collection of his animated TV series, both entitled Static Shock, one of the best animated super-hero series ever. I greatly mourn the loss of stellar black writer Dwayne McDuffie, who created Static and scripted so many memorable DC-oriented animated series and films, his last screenplay before his very untimely death being the animated movie adaptation of All-Star Superman. He created other fantastic black characters under DC's former Milestone imprint during the 1990s along with Static, including Icon (a black version of Superman!) and Hardware (a black version of Iron Man!), both of whom are totally bad ass.

It's a shame that Blade's TV series didn't work out. I could see Blade and Buffy Summers working side-by-side together periodically, as both share a similar goal. Both are pretty bad ass, but I'm sorry, Buffy has Blade beat when it comes to cuteness :-P
