But that does change my opinion that it is more productive to use custom sets of words tailored for each individual situation where the topic of pedophilia is at hand.

We should not use the word in situations where saying it will only cause most present to instantly (upon hearing it) put up mental walls and cease productive discussion.

I think we would benefit instead by only using it when what we see as it's true definition can be known to all we're saying it in front of.
