There's a scene in the DCOM Geek Charming where film geek Josh ( Matt Prokop ) is explaining to Dylan's ( Sarah Hyland ) Father about how Fritz Lang shot the transformation scene featuring the robot Maria in Metropolis; and Lang's interest in the intersection between technology and magic.

This, along with Ms. Hyland's acting, was another reason I gave it a closer watch upon its rerun.
