Good article in most respects, but taking the accompanying photo into account I would dispute their claim that little Edith had a non-winning smile.

But more seriously: yes, we have evolved to prefer attractive people, and the traits we call beautiful also happen to be traits that are strongly related to health and fecundity. On one level we can appreciate that every person deserves attention and respect, but it is silly to deny the fact that we are wired to prefer beauty.
