No, it only saddens me that it has taken such a strongly anti-government turn. When women, blacks and gays were oppressed, they stood up against it, marching in the streets, etc. They didn't attack the entire state; they worked with and within it to get things done. For the most part MAPs just sit behind a computer, anonymously sniping and sniveling and attacking and pointing fingers at groups it is relatively safe to attack from their comfy little hidey holes: namely, the gov't and feminists [read: women], since neither are particularly well represented here. That's what I meant by the CL community having it's own version of PC-ness; well, partly. So, I'm saying if you don't like the way things are, stand up and protest it openly. Otherwise, stop the endless grumbling. I don't mean you particularly; I'm speaking generally to GLers here, and BLers if they're reading.

Let's get real for once. Basically, my advice to GC is simple: put up or shut up. And yes, I know you are an activist in RL, Diss, but you're the rarity here. I'm just getting sick and tired of people forever complaining when they aren't willing to actually get out and put themselves in the line of fire. I've done it, and yes, I take a moderate position in RL, but I'm still out here. I still represent this community in the eyes of the people I know. People look at me and judge this community to some extent by me. It's a lot of fucking pressure, but I do it. If anyone has a right to bitch it's me, and anyone else who gets out here and makes themselves known. As far as I'm concerned, no matter how logical or well-considered your arguments are, they are meaningless in the eyes of most people if all you can muster in the way of courage is posting anonymously on some backwater board on the Internet.

Yes, it's risky, maybe even dangerous, but those early activists faced danger too and still did what was necessary. Get off your asses, people! Your cowardice just confirms what most people already think of us: that we're meek and antisocial. You're just reinforcing the stereotype. Sorry about being so blunt but that's the way it is. Either put your money where your mouth is or shut up already.
