When I watched it he was portrayed as a skeevy type guy. Not necessarily evil but a low-life none the less.

I felt as if they played it out as if his death was fine. They treated his first partner as if she was a victim her whole life and just fragile and easily taken advantage of.

If I find the name of the episode I'll post it.
