If she's legal where you are, then there shouldn't be a problem if you want to just call her your girlfriend, but I'm sure someone can think of someone as a young friend and still think of them as their equal.

I'm a little surprised people are making a big deal out of this with two young women.

If you do have a get together with a mix of friends, I'd just make sure you try not to make it the whole focus of the get together or make a big deal out of it, but rather just act as you usually would to illustrate your point.

I'd be curious to know what her parents think of the relationship and if she's emancipated from them or not. After all even if she is legal, her parents are the ones that might still be able to do the most damage, even if they have good intentions.
