America tends not to like other countries having nukes. They tolerate Britain, France and Israel because they are friends (and India an acquaintance...) But if you ask American politicians, they are all upset that they haven't been able to prevent ~~Russia~~ technically the Soviet Union, China, South Africa, Pakistan, North Korea and now Iran from getting one of their own - therefore, they accuse them of harboring hostile intent by the sole fact of nuclear possession. Even though two nuclear countries have never directly fought each other (hey, there's a thought!)
