I feel this way is better.

I often hear parents I know complaining that their kids won't listen to them. These parents often yell too much, or punish too much etc.

So girls goes to touch fire parent says no, often with no explanation, then the girl ignores it and the parent smacks their hand or punishes them for disobeying. Girl doesn't actually learn that the fire is not safe BUT she does take in that bullying and aggression is how people should treat others.

Warn the girl, she doesn't heed the warning and gets hurt, then she is much more likely to listen to you next time when you warn her. Then comfort her hurt. Logic, Reason, and Love.
