Over and over for two years or so, attempt after attempt has been made to openly censor the internet.
The latest attempt, of course, is SOPA - which would mean, as has always been the goal, that due process doesn't exist. It is so broad, so unaccountable, and with such a clear abuse potential that not only "usual suspects" like Ron Paul have spoken against it. Bachmann, for instance, has. Even in the corporate world, many businesses are against it. Known pro-censorship and anti-pedophile host GoDaddy was even cancelled by 20 thousand sites for being, almost alone among tech companies, in favor of it. Of course, SOPA is nothing new, really. It's only new in the US. China has been living in a SOPA world since forever, and I am old enough to remember a time when American politicians and companies thought that was not right.
