What about the kids' right to do what they want? Sure, it's a little risky, but shouldn't we allow kids to take risks? This seems to me to be a cultural bias of yours, based on your line about "very dumb wannabe cowboy parents." Hey, I'm not exactly into rodeo either, but I'm not going to judge. Initially I thought about the risks involved, but then I thought, well, we infantilize kids way too much in this country. Let 'em have their fun. And it's a learning experience as well.
