I don't know about the treatment of animals at rodeos, but I agree that this can be good for kids.

Is it risk-free? No, but nothing is - and this is certainly less risky than ordinary horseback-riding lessons. There's a saying among the horsey set that one is not a real rider until they have had three falls, and a horse stands much taller than a sheep.
