Hey, I believe animals shouldn't be treated cruelly, but animals are not self-aware or intelligent enough to take part in the Social Contract. If animals could agree not to eat me, I could agree not to eat them. By the same token, if animals could get the upper hand over us, they would so in a heartbeat as they have no scruples. Therefore, any rights they have are due to our good graces, not because it's logical to do so. Sorry, but that's just how it is.
