Lars and the Real Girl

On the one hand, Lars keeps on ticking off people. And Dakota doesn't seem inclined to work with directors known for inciting so much bad PR that the film becomes a secondary story.

OTOH, others, like Charlotte, know that while he may be reviled by many, he's not going to make a film compromised for popularity's sake.

And Dakota will need to let her muse lead if she's going to continue to be at the top of her game.

Of course, what I take from this is that Charlotte has become Von Trier's filmic avatar, the way that Mastroianni was Fellini's and first DeNiro and now DiCaprio are Scorsese's. If this is going to be a long-term artistic collaboration, I look forward to its future expressions.

And yes, I agree with Baldur that its hard to picture Dakota as a younger Charlotte. Mostly because the younger Charlotte has already been on screen.
