Judaism has divisions, usually called Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform.
Orthodox has a further sub-division called Ultra-Orthodox.
Conservative and Reform have their offshoots also, which are not germane to this point.

To say that Israel was founded to preserve "the Jewish special identity, which is based on the religion" is to lump all of the Jews under one heading.

That is not only misleading but in this case demonstrably false.

The Conservative and the Reform Jews have just as much right to religious freedom in Israel as do the Orthodox.
