So now its time to look back on the film performances of 2011.
Unfortunately the GirlCademy can't view everything, and is ineligible to vote on performances it didn't actually see.
But with that in mind.
Best Performance by a Leading LG: Mélusine Mayance for Sarah's Key*
Best Performance by a Supporting LG: Amara Miller for The Descendants
Best Performance by a Leading AG: Saoirse Ronan for Hanna
Best Performance by a Supporting AG: Chloe Moretz for Hugo
The GirlCademy once again notices a paucity of roles large enough to constitute "Leading" ones, particularly among LGs.
Among other noteworthy performances were Leading AG; AnnaSophia Robb in Soul Surfer, and Supporting AG: Elle Fanning in Super 8, as well as supporting LGs: Amelia Clarckson and Romy Settbon Moore in Jane Eyre.
The GirlCademy suspects that Jape has likely seen even more, and invites him to do his own evaluation of the Year's best; and if he finds enough meritorious performances, he might even consider, as we have in previous years, following the usual genre distinctions used by the film awards.
( We also considered suggesting he call his "The GirlDen Globes;" but then we remembered that exclusive Peds tend to avoid "globes." )

* The Nomination Requirements for Foreign Language films follow Academy Rule 14, except insofar as the GirlCademy doesn't wait for the country of origin to nominate a worthy performance.
