If a person commits even a minor criminal act against them, the parents seem to take no hesitation to call the police.
Like AK47 said - it's just defense of their property.
They don't want others to play with their expensive toy. Only THEY can play with their expensive toy.
And that is the crux of the problem: a child is not a toy. He/she might be a lot of things, but a toy is not one of them.
