The only reason Jack was invited onto the show was so that Wilkos could be cruel to him for the amusement of the audience. Wilkos refused to allow Jack to sit in the chair on the stage. But the chair was there, and usually, guests sit in them. The only reason the chair was on stage this time was so that Wilkos could refuse it to Jack. Simply leaving the chair off the stage would have still been a dick move, but Wilkos went the extra mile for Jack.

A better host might have at least let Jack explain his side of the story. But Jack was made to look like an idiot, standing there as Wilkos assaulted him, in the name of Good TV, I suppose.
