Government schools are like government representatives. Everyone knows they are terrible - but they are confident that their own is an exception.

One acquaintance of mine has a daughter who was the valedictorian at her high school. When she entered college, she was required to take remedial English and math in order to meet the minimal standards required for enrollment.

I don't want to sound like a social conservative, but there are some significant advantages to having two (or more) parents in the home.
