Children have the right to say no...

... and yes!

Child advocates, antis, and even some youth rights advocates love to say the line, "children have the right to say no! They have the right not to be abused!" Well of course they have the right to say no and the right to not be abused. Who here disagrees with that? I doubt anyone here disagrees with that. If you do, you are a dick.

However! What about a child's right to say yes? How come whenever there is a case of "consent" especially with teenagers and adults, they suddenly don't care for the child's rights. Suddenly it becomes about forcing their views on the child.

That is where they betray themselves. I am a true advocate for the rights of children. A child has the right to say, "NO I do not want him/her near me!" and the right to say, "YES I love him and I have fun with him!"
