Even my most desirable of dreams, in which I wish to linger long, tend to be gray and fuzzy around the edges. The source of light can never be pinpointed, and it's never as strong as it ought to be.

As a kid, one of my most elaborate fantasies (and ideas for a novel) took place in a world that was beset by a seemingly permanent night by some distant force of evil.
