I do agree that the brain can be configured to believe one is of a gender they are not, but in the case of gender this is similar to your brain leading you to believe that say you have an extra arm (or a real life example of when an amputee still feels the missing limb), that doesn't make what they believe true.

Don't get me wrong, I do not believe that wishing to not be labeled as your gender is a bad thing, just that believing it doesnt make it true.
