Well, we can pretend that those things won't happen, but you know deep down that's exactly how it would go. Let's step out of La La Land for a minute and deal with these possibilities (nay, probabilities) in an Epstein-model world. It is better to face them now, before any of that happens (if we manage to get to that point, and that's an awfully big if), so that we can have a plan to curtail that kind of thing. I'm not being pessimistic--at least, not more than is warranted--I'm pressing for preparedness.
