Crippling her

The chances that she dies or suffers wounds that require a long recovery or leave permanent disabilities, while riding in a car, are way higher than the chances that she will find a MAA unafraid of illegal contact through FB and the relation would jump offline.

So, does she also forbid her from riding in a car?

Does she not realize that by forbidding her to use socnets, she is crippling her own set of skills that she will need when she needs to go looking for a job? I mean, unless she is Paris Hilton and can live without working a day in her life, she will need socnets. Through both increasing penetration and increasing applications, socnets are becoming, apart from entertainment venues, work venues. Sure, I don't think you'll ever need a profile anywhere to clean floors; but I doubt those are her targets for her future either...

There are countless ways for parents to monitor children's socnet use. Literally countless. Sure, I don't approve of many of them on one or other grounds. But a parent who doesn't know one that fits exactly their list of worries while leaving the child able to act and interact in parent-approved ways, just hasn't looked hard enough.

[Barring of course, kids who know their programming way around. But while they are there and are important, they still are a relative minority]
