I watched Sundays and Cybele just now.

It has both the most beautiful and the saddest moments I've seen in film.

[philosophical tangent]

Art has an incredibly important role to play in the human experience. It can help us to understand the immense breadth and complex dimensions of what it can mean to live, think, feel, be human. Surely it is an understanding of such that creates wisdom, enlightenment.

Artistic works (books, music, film, ) have played an important role in helping me to understand life, and myself, and perhaps the role I play in it. So, too, with this film, though it is severely heart-wrenching.

It has made me think on many things. Indirectly, the important bit is the reminder about the tremendous powers and effects of such forces as good/evil, trust/mistrust, and of love. I don't list an opposite of love here, because I don't think the opposite of love really exists. What is called hate is just the manifestation of misunderstanding, fear (as in this film) or of unfulfilled basic needs.

Fortunately for us, though the material world can put up barriers from time to time, in the plane of spiritual forces, love remains a dominant power that CAN, and eventually, in the grand scheme of things, MUST win. Let us all combine the efforts of the heart and mind to champion the cause of love. Its mission is the highest, and the most noble, and its enemies are but mirages that we can conquer with a bit of cleverness and hard work.
