5% of internet traffic taken out...

The DOJ ordered the downing of MegaUpload, part of whose servers were located in Virginia. (whatever happened to "Virginia is for lovers"?) It has been said that MU concentrated 5% of all the internet traffic (by bytes, at least) in the world. As its name says, it was a site that allowed anyone to upload a file to the site, so it could be shared via web. Although the timing leaves no doubt that this is the retaliation by the police staters to the global anti-Sopa protests, it is curious that the pretext used was not content piracy but some things that are somewhat unpopularer - Kiddie Pronz, and Terrorist Information Materials.

Let me affirm in no uncertain terms that I am very unhappy about the downing of MegaUpload, even though I never used it myself (and did hate their policy of "download this in a xx:xx" - do they go to a restaurant and stay seated while the waiters tell them they'll take the order in xx:xx?).

But I can't help feeling my share of Schadenfreude at all those now outraged at the downing of MegaUpload.

We've been living in that world for over 10 years already, us paeds.

Were you with us when they downed Puellula? Epifora entire? heh, even the model sites like Webe, Chemal & Gegg, or the Ukrainians?

Welcome to our world.

We told you so.
