Strange Fashion

this past week, i saw 4 children at my work but i paid attention to the older ones who were 7 and 8 years old girls. i talked to them and gave them candi.
then the 7yo started touching the ear lobes of the 8yo. i thought she was going to put a ear ring there. she was opening the ear lobes which previously had been opened and putting something there.

and that something was...

a necklace. a long necklace which wasn't around the girl's neck but it was hanging by the girl's earlobes. the necklace wasn't close but it ended in needles which were inside her ear lobes!!!!!!

i'd never seen such fashion. it seems a little S&M to me. the girl was comfortable at all with a hanging necklace by her earlobes.
i don't know what to say. the thing ones see everyday. but hey that's fashion.
