Is it possible that what really made her unpopular with the press and the general public was the fact that she proved common contemporary notions of youth incorrect, and in effect takes a bite out of the largely gerontocentric status quo that the majority of people currently support? I'm sure Galileo wasn't very popular with the equivalents of the press and the general public of his day, either.
As for her mention of the "secure clinic," are you sure that is total B.S.? It might be, as you know your country better than I do, but such places sure do exist in the U.S., as children and young adolescents often find themselves confined to one for as long as half a day if they are being interrogated into believing a mutually consensual sexual contact with an adult was actually "abusive" to them, and some have even been put into jail for extended periods for refusing to cooperate in this manner. And there are certainly such clinics for kids in the U.S. being "treated" against their will for such "abuse," and we also have the existence of what are often called "Gulag schools" for "problem" kids who refuse to toe the line. So granted, while I understand that the Netherlands is not the United States, are you absolutely certain that her story is so outrageous for a minor who insisted on so flagrantly going against the government?
