You know I do not consider schools to be a right, but at most a means to freedom of thought and conscience and to the right to work.
[To actually have free thought and conscience, and access to better jobs, you need knowledge. To have knowledge, schools are a possible means to acquire it among many; and as you know I don't even think they are right for many children.]
So no, I consider schools to be essentially optional private clubs (even if fully government funded - and no, in RL I do not oppose government funding though I nearly always oppose government control). Therefore I think they have the right to have rules like that. I might (and at times do) find them moronic, hypocritical, counterproductive, privacy-invading, or other things that I disagree with. But they sure have the right to have them just as much as restaurants have "no shirt" rules.
And I forgot another fetish I would have to make compulsory: braces!
