That was a long one!

I'm sort of inclined to say that you're nuts, but perhaps it is that you've seen some truth that is harder to see.

Your reading of "Let the right one in" bears some resemblance in color to a fictional setting and characters that I wrote about a bit when I was a wee lad myself. These days I find it much to uncomfortable to think about such a dark place. For you and I, and any of us - having seen the truth of dark, the imperative to discover the truth of light is even greater.

Those of us who carry the torches, even small ones such as a match, or just a twinkle in the eye - we must toil, strive, persuade, to make the world a place where one needn't resign oneself to a life of limited expressions of love. We probably won't get to taste the fruits of these labors in our lifetimes, so it takes some of this eros, an altruistic faith in an ideal, as well as the agape fueled by the sparks of feeling that fly up between us and the ones we want to love.

The sparks are there - they give us the light to see by - but if we continue to nourish them, to stare through the dusk and picture in our minds what one day will be seen by their light, they will catch flame.
