And then there's what I think of as the PBS Effect on foreign cinema.

Wasn't is amazing that the British had so much better telly than the Yanks when all the Yanks could see was I Claudius and Upstairs Downstairs? And isn't it stunning how their output looked as bad as the Yanks once we could finally see The East-Enders?

Those who prefer foreign cinema in small doses might not like to see the entire output of France or Italy.
