It's always a sad occasion to lose a dear family member, but worse when it is so unexpected.

It's of course the flipside to the coin we show to defend the Laura Dekker's and Emily Bear's of the world; children (ok, 16 is not a child, but you know what I mean, and in most contexts she is probably taken as "just a child") are capable of all the good that adults are capable of - but also capable of all the evil that adults are capable of.
