It's of course the flipside to the coin we show to defend the Laura Dekker's and Emily Bear's of the world; children (ok, 16 is not a child, but you know what I mean, and in most contexts she is probably taken as "just a child") are capable of all the good that adults are capable of - but also capable of all the evil that adults are capable of.

Yeah, it really pissed me off reading the replies to a certain article. Half of them amounted to: "What was a 16-year-old doing dating a 21-year-old? Where were her parents? If this was MY daughter . . ." Yadda yadda yadda. And there was even one person who accused him of rape (even though 16 is the legal age of consent in Michigan, providing you are not an authority in charge of the minor) and suggested she killed him in self-defense because he was abusive. This person obviously did not know DJ; he was truly one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet. He would do anyone for anyone and was very easygoing and good-natured.
