"More than 100,000 children in the United States are in foster care waiting for permanent families. Hundreds of thousands of children around the world are living in orphanages or substitute care and need homes. Are you ready to parent?"

At least according to an Adoption Photo Listing at adoption.com.

In their list how many infants were available? 0.
1 year olds? 2. One with a disability.
2 year olds? 10, 6 with disabilities.
78 eight year olds,
How many 13 year olds? 374

On that one photolist there are 3110 children waiting for homes and more than 10% are 13 year olds.
-26 are infant to 3 year olds(actually 1-3 since there are no infants).
-519 are 4-10 year olds
-873 are 11 - 13 year olds (take into account that's a 3 year age span whereas the 4-10 year olds was a 6 year age span)
-1692 are 14-18 year olds.

Pretty much any healthy infant will be adopted right away, and a lot of toddlers will be adopted. After that, some kids get adopted, they have a chance if they haven't hit 11. Once they're 11 it's pretty much over. Maybe their foster family will adopt them, or if they have a younger sibling they might bring them along, otherwise they're pretty much screwed.

Nobody wants a older child because they might be damaged. They have ISSUES, and a past, and a you can't pretend that no one else was their mother/father at one time.
